Keeping your Cash and Valuables Secure
The idea of potentially losing your valuable jewellery, watches or cash to theft can be devastating financially and emotionally. Whether you are an individual or business looking to secure these items, it is essential that the correct safe is purchased for insurance purposes.
A 10K cash rated safe will cover the storage of up to £10,000 cash and £100,000 valuables overnight in a safe.
Your insurance surveyors may specify a certain amount that you are required to have as minimum. So it is important to calculate on what is being stored within the safe you are planning to choose.
Fire Protection on Grade 1 Safes
A fire rating is normally one the most requested requirements when our clients are purchasing a safe. 30 minutes and 60 minutes are the two levels that are available in 10K cash rated safes. With the fire rating of 60 minutes offering the wider selection to buy from.
Your insurance surveyors may specify the minutes that you are required to meet when buying a safe.
Please note that many of the Eurograde 1 safes are AiS Approved (Association of Insurance Surveyors). This will also help when obtaining a quotation from your insurance company.
In the event of a fire, the safe will provide fire protection of your paper documents up to this time frame specified.
What type of lock should I choose?
One of the most important decisions is making the choice between either electronic or key locking. They are both equally as secure as each other, the choice is more down to the practicality of what suits your home or business better.
Key Locking – A high security key is provided with a grade 1 safe, it is a double bitted key lock and comes with 2 keys. With the keys you will have to hide the key out of sight in your property, so this is something to take into consideration.
Electronic Locking – Electronic keypad safes are becoming even more popular with our clients as you are not required to hide the key from potential thieves. It also allows more access if more than one person requires access to the safe on a regular basis.
Many businesses and offices prefer digital locking safes as the keypad can store larger amounts of codes. See our range of office safes for your business.
Other Important Considerations when Buying a Safe
One of the key factors when selecting a safe is the external and internal dimensions. It is vital that you check on the external dimensions first as you need to make sure that the safe will fit in the space chosen within your property.
Internally it is recommended that your measure or calculate on what is required to be stored within the safe. This is so that the internal width is not too narrow or making sure that the depth is big enough for your items.
